Should public activists and volunteers register a non-profit organization? This subject was discussed by the participants of the online meeting, which was held on the initiative of the School of Public Action, a project implemented by the St. Andrew the First-Called Foundation with the support of the Istoki Endowment Fund.
The participants of the discussion argued that the registration of an independent non-profit organization provides additional opportunities for effective social activities. According to the speakers, the main advantages are the opportunity to participate in grant competitions, own current bank account required for systematic work with donations, as well as a clear legal status for effective work with social welfare institutions, health care, education organizations, business community and public and municipal administration authorities. In particular this status provides the basis for obtaining a rent-free municipal facility.
