“Pray for peace in Jerusalem” is the major and large-scale peace-making program of the Foundation of St. Andrew the First-Called on the Holy Land which has been implemented since 2003.
Annually on Easter-Eve together with Patriarch of Jerusalem delegation of the Foundation is praying for peace on the Holy Land. In preceding years Orthodox believers in Russia, Israel, Serbia, Romania, Poland, Czech, the USA and other countries joined this initiative.
People in Orthodox churches of these countries also pray for peace on the Holy Land. On the Holy Saturday the deputation of the Foundation by tradition is taking part in the ceremony of Holy Fire in the Church of the Holy Sepulchre and delivery the Holy Fire for Patriarchal Easter Vigil to the Cathedral of Christ the Savior in Moscow. In 2014 the Holy Fire was brought to Rome for the first time. A special capsule in which the fire came from the Holy Land was delivered by the end of the Easter liturgy in the Orthodox church of St. Catherine in Rome, and then by train to St. Nicholas Orthodox Church in Merano.
